The Courtesy Notice issued by the Traffic Division of Shasta County contains details of your traffic infractions, which can either be resolved online, through the mail, or by visiting the Court location in person. Though you can make payments for traffic infractions online, you cannot pay traffic school fees and its administrative charges online.
If you wish to attend traffic school to resolve your traffic citation, the following conditions have to be met:
- You need to have a valid driver's license
- The citation is for a traffic infraction and is reportable to the DMV
- You have not attended any traffic school program during the last 18-months
- There is not any failure on your behalf to appear in Court under the Vehicle Code section 40508(a) and Penal Code section 1214.1
- The citation does not require a mandatory court appearance
- The citation was not for speeding in excess of 25 miles per hour above the posted or legal speed limit

You can request and pay the necessary payments for traffic school only through the mail or by appearing in person at the Court. A Court Clerk or a Judicial Officer will examine your eligibility to attend traffic school and may grant your request. After the necessary permissions are granted, you have to pay the $70 in administrative fees, any bail, and/or fine charges, and the traffic school fees to the Court Clerk. The official then will provide you with a list of DMV approved traffic school programs that you can attend. You can choose classroom, home based, or an online traffic school program from the approved list of traffic schools.
No extension of the due date is granted by the Shasta County Traffic Division for completing traffic school. The completion certificate must be submitted to the DMV by your assigned due date.
