The Traffic Division of the Mendocino County Superior Court will mail you the Courtesy Notice at the address mentioned in the citation. This notice will contain all the details that you need to know to handle the traffic citation situation. Whether or not you receive the courtesy notice, you have to visit the clerk's office or mail the court the fine amount.
You can choose to make the payment via cash, check, cards, and money orders by visiting the branches of Mendocino County in person. Other options include making the payment by mail, using the automated phone service by calling (707) 463-6872, or paying via the Internet payment system. Please note that credit card payments are charged extra via an automatic convenience fee.
The courtesy notice will mention your eligibility status pertaining to the Traffic Violator School Confidential Conviction Program. In order to be considered eligible, you will have to meet these requirements:
- You must have a valid driver's license.
- Your citation must not be for violation of VC 22406.5 tank vehicles code/related to drug or alcohol use or possession/a speeding violation of more than 25 mph over the speed limit.
- Your citation must not have occurred while you were driving a commercial vehicle and you must not possess a Class A/B/C commercial driver's license.
- You have no outstanding failures to pay or appear.
If you are eligible and choose to attend the traffic school program, you will have to pay the amount of bail in full as well as the non-refundable traffic school fee of $57. This will give you 90 days to submit the completion certificate for your traffic school course to be counted. DMV Approved On-line and Home study traffic schools will report the completion of the course directly to the DMV.
