More Information - El Dorado Traffic School
The Traffic Division of El Dorado County Superior Court specifies all the criteria and requirements that you need to meet in order to pay for any traffic infraction and attend Traffic Violator Schools. The Courtesy Notice issued by the Traffic Division will, in most cases, give you all the information you need pertaining to your citation. This includes the date, place, and time of the scheduled court hearing, fines, bail charges, as well as vehicle code violations. If you don't receive this information in the notice which was issued as a courtesy to you, you will have to appear at the appropriate court for the hearing. You can also choose to make the payment for your infraction credit cards or electronic fund transfers.
For some vehicle violations, you have the option of attending traffic school but you need to meet the El Dorado County Traffic School eligibility criteria which are:
- You have not attended traffic school in the past 18 months.
- You have a moving vehicle code violation which is not more than 25 mph over the designated speed limit.
- You have no commercial driver's license.
- You have no outstanding Failures to Appear or Failures to Pay charges.
- Your traffic citation is in no way related to alcohol or drugs/is not a misdemeanor charge requiring compulsory appearance in court/is not for Vehicle Code Sections 22406.5 or 21655.5/does not count for more than 1 point (Vehicle code 12810) or more than 1.5 points (Vehicle code 12810 or .5(b)(2).
You can choose to attend traffic school via mail by sending a self-addressed letter as per the courtesy notice specifications with a check/money order for the fine/bail amount as well as a separate check covering the administrative fee of $69 (non-refundable) made payable to the "Superior Court".
